OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA

Sleep apnea is a common disorder of breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea syndrome is characterized by a cessation of breathing during sleep that is longer than what normally intervenes between two breaths and is determined to be approximately equal to a duration of 10 seconds.

How is sleep apnea diagnosed?
The first step in diagnosing sleep apnea syndrome is to take a good history. The tests that will confirm the diagnosis are the sleep holter and the sleep study.
